Fennel chicken recipe or saunf chicken
Fennel Chicken or also known as saunf chicken fry (not deep fry), is a very simple chicken recipe. It is an Indian chicken recipe made from a very few ingredients as opposed to many other Indian recipes that involve a lot of spices and herbs.
This recipe tastes amazing if you make it on the hotter side.
To make this simple chicken recipe you need
- 1 Kg Chicken (ut in 14-16 pieces)
- 1/2 Onions (yes lot of them, thinly sliced)
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 1 Tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
- 1-2 Potatoes (cut into big chunks)
- 1-2 Tbsp of Vinegar
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 Tsp Turmeric powder
- 1-2 Tsp Red Chilli powder
- 3 Tbsp Fennel seeds (moti saunf, coarsely crushed)
Heat oil in a cooking pot. Add the sliced onions and saute till they become soft. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute some more till the onions become light brown. Add the chicken and mix well. Saute for 3-4 minutes and then add just a sip of water, cover with a lid and cook till chicken is half done. Add the potatoes, salt and chili (to taste) and cook further till potatoes and chicken are done. Add the vinegar and stir. Lastly, add the crushed fennel seeds and mix well.
Serve hot with chapati or rice and enjoy!!
